ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY – CARDIOVASCULAR RESEARCH AND PREVENTION CENTER – CIPREC

The Cardiovascular Research and Prevention Center (CIPREC) conducts clinical studies, diagnostic activities, and health prevention actions under an interdisciplinary, ethical, and scientific approach. In line with its mission to contribute to people’s well-being and to the continuous advancement of medical knowledge, CIPREC commits to managing its activities with environmental and social responsibility.
**Objective**
Establecer un marco de acción claro y efectivo para minimizar el impacto ambiental de las operaciones, promover prácticas sostenibles y fomentar una cultura de sostenibilidad en todos los niveles de la organización.
**Scope**
This policy applies to all CIPREC facilities in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (Arenales 1611 y 1618), including all research, laboratory, pharmacy, administrative, and patient care areas.
**Environmental Principles and Commitments**
1- Comply with all applicable environmental legislation and with the requirements established by
the Government of the City of Buenos Aires within the framework of the Green Seal (Sello Verde) program.
2- Optimize the use of natural and energy resources through efficiency measures and continuous improvement.
3- Implement comprehensive waste management, prioritizing reduction, reuse, and recycling, with special care in the handling of biological waste.
4- Promote the digitalization of administrative and clinical processes to reduce paper consumption.
5- Replace disposable materials with reusable or biodegradable alternatives.
6- Train staff in good environmental practices and encourage active participation in sustainability initiatives.
7- Promote responsible procurement, prioritizing low environmental impact products and suppliers committed to sustainability.
8- Periodically review environmental objectives and performance, maintaining continuous improvement as a guiding principle.
**Current Implementations and Good Practices**
– Progressive replacement of lighting with LED technology across all areas.
– Rational use of air conditioning systems and scheduled equipment maintenance.
– Segregation of recyclable and pathological waste with authorized service providers.
– Elimination of disposable cups and utensils in administrative areas.
– Digitalization of clinical and administrative documentation.
– Informational signage and internal environmental awareness campaigns.
**Responsibilities**
General Management is responsible for the implementation, review, and continuous improvement of this policy.
The Operations Management coordinates actions, monitors indicators, and conducts internal audits.
**Communication**
This policy is public and will be communicated to employees, patients, suppliers, and other stakeholders. Compliance with this policy is part of CIPREC’s institutional commitment to the health of people and the planet.
